Bank House: Renovation
Complete renovation of Bank House, a former annex of the highly renowed Sharrow Bay hotel in desperate need of upgrading, made more challenging by the landslide blocking off the road caused by storm Desmond.
Complete with steel handmade rams head on the newel post for the stairs.
Bank House was a complex and thorough renovation job converting a former hotel annexe overlooking Ullswater into a good quality residence involving stripping out everything back to basics and extension works. I J Curry & son Ltd was recommended to us as a firm that could handle such a project and we were glad we took up the recommendation. As with any project of such a scale there were unexpected problems all of which were overcome. We were pleased that Ian Curry was a “can do” man rather than a “not my job” man. Inevitably costs went above our initial estimates, but we kept full records of all costs and how they arose and at the end of the day, no contractor or subcontractor charged too much for what they did and the cost was fair value for money. Ian took on the responsibility of coordinating all subcontractors and this meant that on the whole people were in the right place at the right time to do their respective bits, which saved uneccesary delay.
So in summary we were fully satisfied with the end result that lived up to our expectations.
