Colby Renovation: Renovation
Refurbisment of all the ground floor in the house , create a glass link from the house to the garage, build a gym where the oil tank was and converted the barn into a self contained 1 bedroom and study upstairs , at the end of the barn is the new biomass building.
IJ Curry & Son have been involved with us for a period of more than 12 years as we have totally restored, renovated modernised our home. The original Grade II* house was built in 1683 and was in bad disrepair. In addition, the second part of the farm, which was built in the early 1800’s, was collapsing and unusable and the mill barn, which, again was built in the early 1800’s, while sound was not in use for anything other than storage.
We would strongly recommend IJ Curry & Son for any major significant building restoration. It is rare indeed to find a building firm who believes in perfection and quality and who are able to successfully modernise, yet be highly sympathetic to a building’s heritage. The firm employs a number of craftsmen and have commercial relationships with like-minded sub-contractors. The result is a seamless and consistent high quality of work throughout the end-to-end process of renovation and modernisation. The craftsmen's attention to detail is significant with carpentry, plastering, roofing, etc and they use materials of the highest quality, consistent with the heritage of the original buildings; e.g. the use of oak in beams, flooring, cupboard building. Their insistence of working with their sub contractors as a collective team ensures a seamless relationship for the customer. All of their employees take pride in their work and go the extra mile to ensure quality of workmanship. All of them are able to work solutions on difficult issues giving us options on these issues.
The end result of this is that we now have a home that is both beautiful and reflective of its heritage and environment in which it stands and IJ Curry & Son have given another 300+ years life to this important heritage building.
