Dowthwaite Head: Renovation
Our clients purchased the small Hamlet at Dowthwaite Head, Cumbria which consists of three derelict Farm houses and about ten barns dating back to the 1500s. Our brief was to fully renovate Dowthwaite head farmhouse from top to bottom so a young local family could move in & farm the land.

The farmhouse was very run down and in need of upgrading so all solid floors came out with a new insulated slab & underfloor heating on the ground floor, new roof timbers and trusses where needed, all insulated & all the walls were plastered with a product called diathonite which is lime, cork & clay so adding insulation to the walls which all helped in us achieving an EPC rating of "C". Planning drawings were done by the clients consultant but were very basic so weI enlisted a local architect Gk Norman of Penrith for more detailed ones.
We have been working with Currys for the last two years on restoration of the farmhouses at Dowthwaite Head, Dockray.
Currys have been thoroughly professional and provided a high standard of workmanship. The restoration to date has been carried out showing sensitivity to the history and character of the buildings and we are very pleased with the end result.
We were consulted when required and helped with making key decisions. Overall we have found them a pleasure to work with.Mr & Mrs Pinfold
