Gillside: Extension - Renovation

I have no hesitation in recommending the company to you. Since moving to Glenridding 7 years ago I have been very aware of Ian's reputation as a master builder, as he has undertaken a wide range of public and private building contracts in the local area. He was highly recommended by previous clients and the quality of his work was very apparent.

We were so determined to secure his services that we were prepared to wait up to a year for our project to start. Our project comprises a large 2 storey extension (clad in stone) and total refurbishment of our original 1830's cottage.

I must say I have not been disappointed. Work started on schedule and to date everything has kept pace with expectations and agreements. The quality of the work is first class and has been remarked upon by both visitors and very many passers by (we are located just off the main track up Helvellyn!).

Ian's team of skilled craftsmen and his sub-contractors have all shown the utmost respect for our property and privacy whist the work has been carried out. They are at all times polite and considerate and are always prepared to go the extra yard to ensure that a job is properly done. In fact they are all really nice people to know.

Ian and his team have been a pleasure to deal with. Ian is always available on the other end of a phone and makes regular visits not just to supervise the contract but also to touch base with us - to make sure things are going OK - and, as required, give assistance to his team.

I have many years experience of working with large and medium sized building contractors. I was Managing Director of the company that managed 15,000 council homes for Rochdale Council until my retirement 2 years ago. In that role I often needed to remind contractors of the need to respect tenant's homes and their privacy and provide a quality service. In Ian's case there is no need - it comes as second nature.

So far as budget is concerned - Ian provided a detailed quotation at the start of the contract and provides regular monthly valuations showing expenditure against quotation. The only variations have been the extras we have requested along the way - to further enhance our project.

Assuming that you have provided a clear specification and plans I have no doubt that Ian's team will provide you and your client with a first class job, on budget and on time. From my experience of his staff I am absolutely certain that they possess the people skills and sensitivity required for the special needs of your client.
